The dry lakes were Art Chrisman's proving ground and, with his brother Lloyd in a ‘34 Ford coupe, they exceeded 140 mph before World War II. After the War, the Chrisman Garage in Compton began producing serious competition machines. Art became one of the five charter members of the 200 MPH Club driving Chet Herbert's “Beast”. His success on the drag strips was, for a time, unrivaled. In 1955, at Bakersfield, he went 140 mph in the famous “No. 25” that had originally belonged to Leroy Neumayer. Art and team built the Hustler I, powered by a 392-cid Chrysler engine, the first car to reach 180 mph. Throughout the 1950's and 60's, Art competed with the best fuelers in the sport.

Question:
Should a hotted up motor run hotter than a standard motor. If it does would the heat from tubular headers be the primary cause in a confined space.Surely the combustion temperatures in a standard motor wouldn't be that different to that of those of a hot motor and besides at 800centigrade 50 degrees is not that much?

Question:
Hi,
I'm looking for an interesting way to rod my 54 Ford with the original 239 cid Y-Block engine. Recently, while gazing at the crossover pipe, I got the idea of turbocharging the engine using the setup from a buick grand national.
However, the feasibility of this option seems iffy since not too many people have published info on this particular mod.
To turbo or not to turbo the Y-block for daily street use. That is the question.
And, if so, how.

Question:
Hello, and thank you for reading my question. I currently own two nailhead powered cars, a 66 GS and a 64 Riviera, and I am getting ready to start an A sedan project with a 60 401. My question is pretty broad, but I was wondering about any does and donts with these engines as far as rebuilding and generally hot rodding one. I have had a hard time finding anyone who really has in depth knowledge of nailhead performance techniques. Any information about, induction, porting, cam selection, etc. would be greatly appriciated. Thank you again for your time and knowledge.

Just want some feedback on your thoughts.
