Donate Photos

The American Hot Rod Foundation is dedicated to preserving the history of hot rodding in all of its forms. We have collected and scanned over 5000 photographs, many of which we share with you on this web site. We have also made digital video copies of film footage loaned to us.

Protecting your photos is a way of protecting hot rod history!

Photos are often lost, loaned to someone and not returned, or they just disappear. In addition, period photos can fade or crumble depending on storage conditions. But these photos – perhaps your photos – are among the best artifacts of the history of hot rodding. We need them! Please help us to make the history of hot rodding as complete and interesting to future generations as we possibly can.

This is our offer: if you will loan us your period photos, we will make a high resolution digital copy for ourselves and for you. We will then return the original photos to you along with the digital copy. That way, your photos will never be lost.

Please note that we do not own your photos—you do—we just have a right to use the images. Therefore, if you want to give them to friends or relatives at a later date, or give someone else a right to use them, you are entirely free to do that. The more people who can see your photos, the happier we are!

If you have photos or film that we can copy, or if you would in fact like to donate film or photographs to the foundation, please contact us at
